Great insights into Father and son relationships

The play is the basis for the present movie with Dentzl Washington and Viola Davis Quite some insights into the African -Americans city reality but all city working class reality. Great insights into Father and son relationships , and especially husbands and wives. Many women put their marriage first, their family first, before their own dreams. This was expected of them in the 1950s, early 1960s.

I saw this movie and wanted more.

I saw this movie and wanted more. So I bought this play, a long with a few others, at the encouragement of others. The movie stayed pretty close to the play. There were barely any differences, which allowed me to relive the movie in written form. I LOVED the movie and I now cherish this book/play. I cant wait to dig into the other items.

Awesome story

It's a wonderful story. I have ready it before and used it as material in English literature back in high school in the Caribbean. I wanted it for my American mother-in-law who went to see the movie and loved it. She enjoyed the book and said it's mind consuming than the actual picture.
