Very easy to understand!

I'm new to makeup and I wanted a manual that I could follow with ease, and that was when I came across this. The layout is very easy to understand and I found that I could reference any parts that I needed again without having to endlessly flick through my pages. I'm now reading it for the second time because I found it so useful and I'm practicing my skills along with it, so it is a great book for those who are new to makeup and the industry.

Great addition to the make up courses! Very useful and full of great tips book. I feel like I learned a lot, all the information is very well organized and overall this book is well-written. Highly recommend it for beginners as well as for more advanced makeup artists. Clearly one of the best books on makeup I have ever read. Good job Nina!

One of the better modern commentaries on the Heart Sutra.

The Heart Sutra is almost like the Pater Noster or the Al-Fatiha of Mahayana Buddhism. Although I'm a former Roman Catholic who became a 12er Shia Muslim, I admire the beauty and brevity of this Sutra. My favorite commentary on this sutra is the one by Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. However, a close second is this commentary by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. For those Tibetan Buddhists who have it in for the New Kadampa Tradition, don't worry, because I liked the Dalai Lama's commentary, also. Just not quite as much as Kelsang Gyatso's New Heart of Wisdom. Red Pine (Bill Porter) has a good one, also, as does Rulu. If I didn't mention your favorite Dharma Master's commentary, its probably because I haven't read it yet. (smile)

Of course, Tibetan Buddhists use a slightly different version of the Heart Sutra than Zen Buddhists do. I like either version. Kelsang Gyatso's commentary gave some insights that were different from those of Thich Nhat Hanh's commentary, which is the result I hope for when reading commentaries of other Dharma teachers. Yet, even though Kelsang Gyatso is a Dharma Master in the New Kadampa Tradition and Thich Nhat Hanh comes from the Rinzai school of Zen, their teachings compliment each other very nicely.

For someone interested in the New Kadampa Tradition, I would not start with this book. After reading The New Heart of Wisdom, I bought the free 3-Volume Kindle Book Modern Buddhism and liked it enough that I bought the hardcover edition for my bookshelf. Modern Buddhism is the place to start. If, like me, you just want some background on Buddhism and just want to start a meditation practice, these 3 books - Modern Buddhism, The New Meditation Handbook, and the New Heart of Wisdom, is probably all you need. Be aware that if you be a part of the New Kadampa Tradition, eventually they will ask you to only read books by Kelsang Gyatso, which I don't see as a problem for those who want to be certified as a New Kadampa Tradition teacher. As a 12er Shia Muslim, I'm mainly interested in Buddhism primarily to develop my meditation practice and secondarily because of my interest in Comparative Religion. I couldn't be a New Kadampa Tradition Buddhist because I only pray to One God, so not even the enemies of the New Kadampa Tradition can fault me for reading Kelsang Gyatso's books because I'm not going to pray to Dorje Shugden anyway. I love and respect Shakyamuni Buddha and believe he was/is a Prophet of God, as do many Shia Muslims and traditional Sunni Muslims (especially Sufis) do. One can buy Thich Nhat Hanh's Old Paths, White Clouds - his biography of Shakyamuni Buddha, at Islamic Bookstores that cater to Sufi Muslims, as well as Nhat Hanh's books on the Meditation practice. In the end, Kelsang Gyatso's New Meditation Handbook could be used, also.

Amazing book for non-beginners. The author writes very intelligibly even for begiiners. Because of this I can recommend this book for everybody who are intrested in this subject.

I find thich nhat hanhs writings to be very inspiring ...

I find thich nhat hanhs writings to be very inspiring and readable and preferred his commentary on this sutra. Geshe kelsang gyatsos book for me is harder to read. I am not an NKT member but find charles millers review to be laced with anger although he denies it. Surely the way of buddhism in this situation would be to be deeply mindful so that opposing views can be understood and any criticism which needs to be made can be done so in a humble and respectful tone.

Self-aggrandizement at its largest!

I hated this book because of the way funeral directors and removal personnel are depicted. I've been in the business for many years and have yet to see anyone "take" (steal) a souvenir from the dead as he so casually described in the death of Marilyn Monroe. And then to make it worse, he gives it to his wife who then parades it out to shock and titillate their guests. Disgraceful! And we've handled many high-profile deaths and no one cruises the neighborhood as voyeurs to see where the deceased lived or died. Abbott obviously has a highly-exalted perception of himself but he's an absolute disgrace to the profession. He should stop capitalizing on the deceased and thumping his chest about what a success he and Hast made of their removal business. The potential was there for this book to be an interesting read but the writer ended up annoying and disgusting. If someone insists on buying this junk, PLEASE know that funeral professionals do not steal from the dead!

Great Read

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but it turned out to be fascinating and informative. I'm sure most Americans are coming around to the opinion that simple funerals, and especially cremation, are the best solution, but the history of funerals and traditions are revealing. I've attended funerals, starting with my Grandmother's traditional wake to a more recent simple service after cremation. Mr. Abbott gives one complete appreciation of all that goes into this business. His revealing story about Maryilyn Monroe convinces me that she met with an unexpected death.

I found this upon a recommendation from Find A Death site. This is one really really great book. Filled with tidbits (ohhhhh! the Marilyn Monroe death thing..worth the price of the book alone!!) Get it.written very well, funny, and lots of great pics

Jenny Hayut lives in Virginia with her husband and two children, along with their shelter rescue, Georgia, an extremely spoiled beagle mix. Her love of writing began in elementary school and continued through high school, where she enjoyed writing quirky articles for the school newspaper and poetry for the literary magazine. In her free time while she’s not people watching and plotting to kill a character off, she’s outdoors. Tattooed alpha male bounty hunters, fast classic cars, and finding love

Gaining Ground picks up right where Shifting Gears left off so you MUST read book 1 first. This is a story filled with bounty hunters, alpha males with tattoos, and fast classic cars... *sigh* What's not to love about that, right? But is also a story about finding love, looking past first impressions and jumping to conclusions, making sacrifices, and defining what family means to you.

Niki and Holt's life was crazy before, but things are about to get even more out of control. Niki is completely unprepared to have the foundation of her world rocked in a big way and it seems as though she doesn't have time to absorb one new piece of information before the next surprise is dumped on her. Holt's prior knowledge of some of this information infuriates Niki, and she gives him no option to explain before running from him yet again. By the time she works things out in her head, Holt is a bit wary of her reactions and involving her in his world, so he starts to distance himself from her in order to protect her. In his mind, it is the best thing to do regardless what she may think.

This story has plenty of suspense, drama, steam and action to go around! It was wonderful to see Niki work her way out of her shell of fear to finally find her backbone that was missing in action up to this point. Throw in a few wild car chases and some gunfire and that backbone was definitely tested, but she came out the other side a stronger person for it. Holt experiences an emotional journey himself as he works through the chaos surrounding them. He opens up to Niki about his past and has to decide if he is really strong enough to walk away from her or if he can find a way to adjust his lifestyle to have everything he wants while still doing what he loves. He thrives on the thrill of the hunt but it exposes anyone he cares about to a whole lot of danger.

Oh, did I mention that Holt has a group of fellow badasses that he works closely with? Holy hot alpha males alert! His partner Jax plays a big part in the story as he protects Niki and her best friend Cass when Holt is not around, and I definitely want to know more about him in the future. Add in newcomers Finn, Cole and Ryder, and the hotness level is through the roof when they are all in the same room. Speaking of Cass, I am seriously hoping she gets her own story soon as well after the mess she creates for herself during this story!

Ms. Hayut did not experience any sort of sophomore slump at all- in fact I thought Gaining Ground was even better than Shifting Gears. The story was paced well, and although I did feel the need to huff in frustration at my Kindle a few times along the way for the actions of either Holt or Niki, it just meant I was experiencing the emotions the author was trying to convey. I really enjoyed the book overall and read it in just a few hours. Some wonderful new characters were introduced over the course of the story expanding the group and its extended family of sorts, and I am looking forward to seeing more of all of them in the future.

Get ready for some action ladies!!

Following up from the heightened events that took place in bk1, Gaining Ground picks up where Shifting Gears left off. I had so many questions as to how Holt and Niki’s relationship would be salvaged after that big cliffy revelation, but, Ms. Hayut answered all of my inquiries in an adept fashion.

Going forward, things aren’t easy squeezy at all. With secrets, lies, and unexpected twists and turn of events set into mention, Niki is aptly hesitant and apprehensive where all the chips with Holt lay.

It’s a bit of ups and downs in this read as now Niki has to make some hard decisions and gather up the strength she never knew she had. Not to mention, Holt has his own demons to answer to.

Get ready for some action ladies, Gaining Ground pulls full steam ahead as tensions and stakes are risen and hearts are put on the line!!

This is a MUST READ!!! I recommend reading Shifting Gears first as this story ties into it and you will be lost majorly if not, Trust me. It's wonderful, exciting, and earth moving great. The thrill of the story is not lost and it just keeps going and going with all the twist and turns that happen every few pages you can't help but fall in love with the story. Hell I know I did. Take a chance on Niki and Holt and what's to come. I know you wont regret it. Hell if anything you'll be like me dying for more, craving more.

Best PowerPoint book ever

This tells you everything you need to know about making presentations with PowerPoint, and it does it without excessive verbiage/jargon. It's well laid out in logical sections, making it super easy to use as a reference. But it's the awesome full-color pictures that you'll notice first. Then you'll notice the handy tips scattered throughout.

If you want a guide that gets to the point without demanding a huge investment of your time, then buy this little book. I've been teaching Microsoft Office for about 15 years and have purchased many PowerPoint books over the years. This is my favorite.

best books to come across, i learnt it faster and clearer from the book then i did doing a 3 month course on the same things, the book gave me more confidence and i use it as a refresher if ever going to a job interview test
